A year ago, I was told by a much larger philanthropic organization that we should consider drilling in a different part of the world. They said our rig was too small and the logistics of working in Africa were too tough. They had pulled out of Tanzania and we should, too. I responded that we only had enough money for the rig we bought, and we would continue to move forward with the project on determination, prayer and faith. When completed, Mbezi Msigani will be our 7th completed water well. That is quite an accomplishment in such a short time!
Today, Wallace sent an email saying the crew hit a very hard section of rock at 70 meters depth (230 feet.) They switched to a rock bit and powered through the hard spot, but they burned up part of the rig’s rotary drive in doing so. They are now traveling back into Dar es Salaam to find the parts needed to fix the rig and complete the well. Wallace says he expects to complete the well in 20 more meters – near the limit on how deep our little rig can drill. But Wallace will somehow find a way to make it work, just like he has always done.
The success of the Tanzania Water Project up to this point has been due to a unique partnership between Wallace’s team drilling the wells, our donors for providing funding and technical support, the Anglican Archdiocese of Tanzania for helping us store the drilling rig and providing logistical help to the drilling crew, and the staff at Christ Church, Nacogdoches for supporting us along the way.
It’s not easy to drill water wells in Africa – that’s why each well we complete changes peoples’ lives. Think about that for a minute. This project is succeeding where others have failed, and it could not have worked at all without your contributions of time and money. So THANK YOU for your support and CONGRATULATIONS on your success!

In Tanzania, many spend their days/nights in lines like this at overcrowded, under-performing wells. With your donations, we are working to change that, village by village, well by well. Please consider a monthly reoccurring gift to the Tanzania Water Project. $10, $25…whatever the amount. It all adds up to more wells. As far as this particular little girl is concerned, she’s near one of our planned well sites. Click the DONATE button above, let’s give her a helping hand.
If you would like to look up the exact spots on Google Earth, send an email with “Tanzania Well Coordinates” in the Subject line to: info@tanzaniawaterproject.org
We’ll send you the coordinates, along with more details on the triumphs and challenges we’re experiencing in our mission to bring better health to the people of Tanzania in Christ’s name.

A truck, a tank, a hi-tech portable drilling rig, a trained crew, generators, pipe, hose, cement, tools and lots of volunteer labor.
So not so simple, and without your support, impossible. Thank you friends of the TWP!
Site preparation for a new well being done for a more remote Tanzanian village. Five wells are in, the need for more remains great. Your continued donations will keep them coming!
Our travelers are safe in Dar es Salaam! They hit the ground running. Today, after 12 years of no running water, a new working well was drilled with our rig at the diocesan center, which serves over 1 million worshipers. Even more exciting: news of many villages queuing up for a well to be drilled in their district. No realer than that, friends of the TWP!
The drilling rig safely reached port in Dar today!!! Our team in Tanzania, led by Wallace, is now working to get it off the ship, through Customs and on its way to WORK! We expect that to take about a week to navigate. We’ll update when that is safely accomplished.
